Six technical advantages that make ESP the preferred air purification technology for oil mist, grease aerosol and fine particle applications
For applications involving oil mist, grease aerosol and fine particles, electrostatic precipitators offer a combination of technical and operational advantages that mechanical bag filters, cartridge collectors and panel filters cannot match.
ESP imposes minimal resistance to airflow β remaining constant throughout the service life as collection cells load. Bag and cartridge filters show increasing pressure drop as they fill, increasing fan energy and reducing airflow.
High-voltage ionization charges fine liquid aerosol droplets β oil mist and grease aerosol β enabling electrostatic collection. Mechanical filters are unreliable for liquid aerosols, causing rapid clogging and ineffective capture.
Collection plates and ionizer cells are washed and reused. No ongoing purchase of filter bags, cartridges or filter media. No disposal of contaminated filter waste.
Unlike bag filters where pressure drop increases sharply as the filter loads, ESP maintains consistent airflow and purification performance between cleaning cycles.
ESP modules combine in any configuration β parallel, series or stacked β to match any airflow requirement from a single machine unit to a large centralised industrial or commercial system.
Each ESP system is engineered around the specific pollutant type, airflow volume and installation environment β not a standard off-the-shelf filter product selection.
